Update Your Library Card on Libby

Our shiny new library cards feature our new website address and our new logo, but they also have a new barcode number on the back. For folks who use the Libby app to download free audiobooks, ebooks, and magazines, this means you’ll need to update your card number on the app. Here’s how to do that–in five simple steps:

That should do it! If you have any questions, talk to one of our library staff members.

Board of Trustees Candidate Petitions Available

Residents of the Cobleskill-Richmondville School District interested in running for a seat on The Community Library’s Board of Trustees are required to submit a completed petition to the school’s district office by April 19, 2024. Downloadable copies of these petitions–along with addition information about the Board–are available on our Trustees page.

New Hours at The Community Library

Beginning January 2, 2024, The Community Library will be implementing new hours. We’ve expanded our programming over the past two years to the point where we were finding it difficult to fit all our programs into the available time slots. We recognized the need for additional service hours, so we’re now staying open a few hours later on Wednesday night and an extra hour on Saturday afternoons.

Our Friday afternoon hours are also changing. We keep hourly data about the number of visitors to the library and have found that very few patrons visit us on Friday afternoons, but that the last hour on Saturday is often busy. As such, we’ve shortened our Friday afternoon hours and decided to stay open longer on Saturdays.

Our new hours are:

  • Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday: 10 am – 8 pm
  • Friday/Saturday: 10 am – 2 pm
  • Sunday/Monday: closed

We hope the new schedule will enable more library patrons to take advantage of everything we have to offer. Let us know what you think!

New Website for the New Year

The Community Library is very excited to share our newly re-designed website. We’ve been working for months to come up with a less-cluttered, easy-to-navigate site that is not only more attractive and engaging, but that also makes it easier for patrons to find the information and resources they need.

We’re still in the process of adding content and features to the website, but we know that a good site grows and changes over time as more people use it. If you identify any errors, typos, dead links, or pages you used to use all the time but can no longer find, please let us know. Likewise, if you have recommendations, questions, or praise, feel free to share those as well! We hope you’ll take some time to browse our new page and see what the library has to offer.
